Finals and Portfolio Updated
Hi everyone!
The semester is finally over and I'm on summer break now. I had a chance to update my portfolio. I fixed some older pieces for it, so be sure to check it out. :D
You can find my portfolio here: www.alexandravo.blogspot.com
I also got to fix some of my other pieces I've made over the semester. I then finished the inside of the tree house, Skull Rock and Tinkerbell's house for Background Painting too.
And then for Directing for Animators, I finished my animatic for my Senior Film. I'm excited and scared at the same time to animate it. I unfortunately can't post it in case I wanted to submit it to film festivals. I was planning on working on making vis dev pieces for the project over the summer, so please stay tuned to that!
As for my liberal art classes, I think I did well in them so that's good. :)
Thanks for reading!
Bye :D

Parent's Anniversary and Such
It was my parent's 25th anniversary on Wednesday the 11th, so I drew a picture of them, framed it, and gave it to them. They loved it, so it made me really happy. :) Usually my parents aren't into gifts, so for them to say that they like it is a big deal.
Here's what I drew for them.
Then in Background painting, I worked more on my interior tree house.
Then I started working on some thumbnails for my next two pieces. I'm going be doing a scene of the pirate ship when they've captured the lost boys and then of the part where Tinkerbell is dying after saving Peter.
Here are the thumbs for that.
Lou and I decided to pick the first thumb for the pirate ship. So I started on a rough drawing and then a color script for it.
That's it for now. Toodles. :)

Kazone's Over. :(
I always get so sad after my classes finish. D: I learn so much from them, and I have such a great time. I can't wait for the summer, so I can take some more. I guess now, I can at least concentrate on my work from LCAD.
I was able to visit Disney Studio yesterday, and it was absolutely amazing! I can't tell you about it unfortunately , but be very excited for their upcoming release, because it's absolutely wonderful!
So in my Vis Dev class from Kazone, I worked on my mermaid piece that I posted in the last post. I changed some of the drawing so that it can read better and did some color keys. Overall, I would like to work more on my pieces, and get them polished for my portfolio. Hope you enjoy them. :)
The last one, I decided to do the scene where they're returning back from Neverland to London on their magic flying pirate ship. :) Like I said, I want to work on them some more to make them better and good enough for my portfolio.
Here's what I've been doing in Background Painting as well.
I fixed the line drawing to the Interior Tree house, and did a color key for it.
And then in Directing for Animators, we had to re-edit a film into a different genre and turned it into a trailer. This was super fun. I used Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory. I'll let you watch it for yourself to see what I changed it into. :)
That's it for now. :) See you guys!

Midterms and Lunar Revel
'Ello people!
Hope everyone's doing well. School had started and it's been pretty busy. Before all that though, I had entered a contest hosted by the game I play, League of Legends. We had to take a character, as well as an in shop item and paint it with the theme of the New Lunar New Year. Unfortunately I didn't place, but I did get runner up. That at least got me around $30 dollars of prizes so that's not too bad. There was over 4,500 entries, so I guess that's something! :D It still pushed me a lot, and I think this is the first painting I've done with so many characters in it. :x
Before school had started I also did a speed painting of when I went to Bolsa Chica Wetlands in Huntington Beach. That was fun.
I also had fun doing an exercise on design where I take random shapes and try to make something out of it. :) I decided to just to some self portraits and then some of my boyfriend.
I later choose one from each and printed them out. I then made my own flower pot, glued the images on it, and gave it to him for Valentine's :). Once I get a picture of that, I'll post it up here. :D
Soooooo...on to school :)
I'm taking Directing for Animators, Aesthetics, History of Animation and Background Painting at LCAD. Because I'm only taking 12 units, I decided to also take Visual Development at Kazone Art. That class is super fun, and Patrick Raines, the instructor, knows a lot and is helping me push my work. I still have a lot to learn, but it's been fun. I decided to combine the projects in Background Painting and the Vis Dev class, because the requirements are essentially the same. I'm continuing my Peter Pan project from last semester, so I will be doing pieces based on the dessert theme.
The first one I did was of Peter and Wendy in the nursery. Since they're still in London, I decided not to add the dessert aspect just yet.
Here's a work in progress of the final painting. I think there's still some polishing needed though.
The next scene I did for Background Painting. They're at Neverland now and Peter is showing Wendy his tree house.
And here's the work in progress for the final painting for that.
Then in Vis Dev again, I started on the Mermaid Lagoon scene. In this one, they're trying to drown Wendy.
I still have some fixings I need to do on the drawing before I start painting on it, but that's that.
In Directing for Animators, we've been pretty much working on the storyboards for our Senior Film. I probably won't post the process of that until the final animatic.
As for the other two classes they're pretty much your typical Liberal Arts classes.
That's it for now. :)
Take care!
