Some Fall Final Stuff

Here's a few things from finals this semester. Not going to post my film/animation stuff quite yet though until it's completely done. Sorry! :X

Here's stuff from Vis Dev. It was a pretty fun class. I just wished I could have spent more time on the project.

I can't post the scene I animated for Animation 3 unfortunately either since it's a group project that might be entered into festivals.  But here's a background I painted for it.  The hallway part with the posters was designed by the lovely Miss Tamara Go.

And then even though I'm not going to post any of the animation from my film.  Here's another background I painted for the opening sequence as a teaser. :)

And now to go rest, have fun, and paint things for myself. :)

Owls and Elephants

Hey! So lately I've been getting into some crafts.  Mainly due to pinterest. >.<  Here's a few I made in the last month.

The owls are hand sewn out of felt.  They're pocket warmers! So if you put them in the microwave, they stay warm.  Perfect for the winter season. ^_^

I've also been wanting to make a terrarium for a while now, and my friends and I finally went to the swap meet to get some succulents.  This is the result! Yay. :)

1) Milk 2) Eggs 3) Love

I was at Whole Foods the other day and I kept making eye contact with this really cute blond guy.  That got me thinking that it'd be a cute idea to have a couple fall in love at a grocery store!  So I made this really quick sketch of them. :) I kinda want to make a small series for it if I have time.  We'll see where it goes. :D

Detour de France, CTN and Such

Hey Everyone!!

I hope all is well. :)  The last few weeks have been crazy.  Just finished with midterms and now I'm getting ready for CTN Expo.  I'm so excited.  Can't wait to meet up with some old friends and making new ones! Hope to see you guys there.

Here's the business card I'll be handing out this year.

You might be able to recognize the couples as the same ones from my senior film.  I can't show the updated reel here in case I want to submit it to film festivals, but here's some of the art I'v done for it.

For Visual Development, I'm designing for Hans Christian Anderson's The Nightingale.  I've got a few sketches here and then the color script. :)

I've done some plein air paintings here and there, but not as often as I would like due to my work schedule.  My Disneyland pass also expired so I'm sad I can't go there and paint anymore. :(  Oh wells, there's always the off chance that I get a job there and then I'd be able to go whenever I want. :D

That's it for now.  Best wishes to all and hope to see you guys at CTN!

Aquarium

Had a Viscom class reunion over the weekend at the Aquarium of the Pacific. It was awesome seeing familiar faces and making new friends. :) And yes, there were birds at the aquarium. :x

Santa Barbara

Over the labor day weekend, my friends and I took a spontaneous trip to Santa Barbara. We drove around until we found this cool looking mission where we decided to stop, paint and just chill out. :)

I also started school again and did a quick painting before class on campus. Yup. :)

Anywhat, I hope everyone else had a great weekend too! :)

Summer Stuff: CDA

So I went through a lot this summer.  Dealing with all of that was interesting and made me grew as a person.  I made a lot of new awesome friends and am really grateful for the ones that helped me through the hard times.  You guys are awesome. :)

So besides from dealing with life, I also took a few classes at Concept Design Academy again.  I took Leighton Hickman's Landscape painting class, Peter Han's Vis Com: Dynamic Sketching, and Mike Yamada and Victoria Ying's Visual Development class.

Leighton's class was challenging having to go back to traditional media and ACTUALLY having to mix the paints.  I think that's what's awesome about doing plein air traditionally though. You really learn to think before you make a paint stroke since there's no undo button.  You also learn more about color since it's a limited pallet and realizing what colors are needed to be mixed to get a certain color.  Here are a few of the paintings I did for that class.  The water colors are around 1.5 X 5 inches, so they're pretty small.  The oil painting is 9 x 12 for those who are wondering.  A few of them (the ones that have the orange rocks)  are from my family trip to Utah. :)  We got to visit several of the national parks.  Minus the heat, it was awesome to hike and paint there.

Vis Com was a lot of fun too.  It was nice to go back to just drawing and sketching again.  The thing I learned the most from that class is how much putting in the mileage really helps you improve.  Even simply redrawing the same thing over and over again helps tremendously.

Visual Development was fun also.  We did a few exercises as well as a project for Ray Bradbury's Something Wicked This Way Comes.  There's still a few notes on the illustrations that I would like to address when I have the time.

So that's pretty much my summer.  Artwise at least. :)  Now onward to the Fall semester! Wish me luck. :X
